No Earthly King is a milestone 1 hr documentary made to coincide with the third London Olympiad in 2012. A labour of love for it's Producer/Director Ciarán O' Hara the programme focusses on Ireland's hidden history of Olympic achievement before the foundation of the Irish Free State. It is not simply a roll call of athletic prowess, but a study of how the politics of the time was reflected in those who competed, where they competed and who they competed for. It reveals how their own politics manifested itself, particularly at the 1908 London games and reveals the Irish connection in the story of why the USA does not dip it's flag at Olympic opening ceremonies.
